Medical Centre

2nd Year Project 2

A 530sqm medical centre, over 2 storeys accomodating a range of services including NHS, Pharmacy and complimentary medicines. Sited on the University of Bath campus, a strong emphasis was placed on response to context, ensuring that respect was paid to the already ecclectic architecture of the campus.

 

Working with the existing site geometries and considering desirable adjacencies/positionings, an organic plan form was developed to house the clinical spaces. Contrasting this were 2 orthogonal wings housing the admin/staff and service zones, acting as a physical buffer to the overcrowded site and pyschological threshold for users, creating an ambience of privacy and separation.
